How can I check if my vehicle has started charging via Plug & Charge?
To verify if your charging session has started successfully, please check the following:
- Charging station screen: Look at the status display on the charging station to confirm that charging has begun.
- Vehicle display or My BMW app: Check the charging status in your vehicle or via the My BMW app for an update.
- Charging socket status: Inspect the status indicator on your BMW's charging socket for confirmation.
If the charging point repeatedly prompts for authentication:
Please verify if the charging station supports automatic Plug & Charge authentication. You can check this information:
- On your BMW's Goodbye screen.
- In the charging point details in the My BMW app.
Important note: After a failed authentication attempt via Plug & Charge, your vehicle will not automatically re-authenticate when plugged in again. As an alternative, you can authenticate using the digital method in the My BMW app (Charge on the Go) or the BMW Charging Card.
How do I stop a Plug & Charge charging session?
You can stop the session in two ways:
- Using the Stop button on the charging station: Press the Stop button (usually on the station display or beside it). The connector will unlock automatically once the session ends.
- Using your vehicle: Follow your vehicle's instructions for unlocking the connector (e.g. using the key fob or the in-car unlock button).
